David William Goree

Service Information

Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.

On January 21, 2017, Dave was finally released from the ravages of heart, lung and brain disease and passed on to a better place where pain and suffering will no longer be a daily struggle. Dave came into this world on April 6, 1939, in a sawmill camp located about 6 miles East of Thompson Falls, Montana. His birth was not recorded for five days as the snow was too deep to travel through.

Dave began his work career with the BNSF in 1958 and he worked there for 9 years. He moved to Ferndale in 1967 and worked at Intalco for 28 years before retiring. He spent many years traveling, hunting, fishing, golfing and enjoying life. Dave was active in the many communities in which he lived. While living in Ferndale, Libby Montana, Mesa Arizona, Thompson Falls Montana, and Everson, he was a member of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Posse, Toastmasters, Libby Lions, Christ Lutheran Church of Libby, East Mesa Lions, Plains Lions, Thompson Falls High Bridge Committee, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Thompson Falls, Immanuel Lutheran Church of Everson, and the Everson Lions.

Dave was preceded in death by his father David Henry Goree, and his mother Frances Beatrice Shuey.

Dave is survived by his wife of 28 years Julie Goree and their son Tristan (Daschell) Goree both of Everson; his children Dixie (Cliff) Roy and Michael (Lorraine) Goree both of Sumas, and Darren (Pamela) Goree of Lynden. He is also survived by his aunt Anna Dickson of Sandpoint Idaho; his sister Judi Lingg of Puyallup, his brother Steve Shuey of Libby Montana, his brother Paul (Jerri) Shuey of Missoula Montana, and his sister Evelyn Shuey of Big Fork Montana; his in-laws Harry (Jan) Christiansen of Everson. Dave also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dave was a loving, loyal, mild-mannered and humorous man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His remains will be returned to his beloved Montana where he was raised and where he spent many wonderful years enjoying his retirement. Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
