Norma Jean Holmes

Service Information

Celebration of life to be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, 12PM to 6PM at Norma's House.

Norma Jean Holmes, age 64, of Blaine passed away on Tuesday, August 23rd at Whatcom Hospice House.

Survived by too many family members and friends to list. She was and always will be loved by many.

"When you are an angel, happy and free, be sure to watch over the family and me. We'll think of you always and miss you much more, as higher and higher your spirit will soar. Come hear me sing, I'll write you a song after you've gotten to where it is you belong. Tuck in Dawn and Jamie, and tuck them in tight. Whisper you love them and kiss them goodnight. I wish you could see all the family that's here, all the people that love you and hold you most dear. Listen and trust us, believe what we know, we love you so much its just time to let go. So we'll take your hand, hold it tight-don't you fear. Your family is with you, we love you we're here." - By Selena Rogers Pai.

Special thanks to Whatcom Hospice House, Cancer Center, Alderwood Park Convalescent Center, and 4 South (St. Joseph Medical Center). In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Whatcom Hospice House.

Dear Dawn and Jamie,
Being with you both and your Mom when she left us to join all her loved ones who passed before her was an honor and a privilege for me. I have a host of wonderful, fun memories of times with her, especially at the Lake House and on the boat and, of course, all the Christmases and Thanksgivings we spent together back then. We could always count on Norma to load us up with fabulous food...and lots of it! Now it's you, Jamie, following in your Mom's footsteps and keeping up the tradition.
Love to you both from your Aunt Karen

Oh, the many memories that have come back over the last week...I was only 5 when Norma married Unlce Jim and came into our family...before all the cakes, the holidays, the haircuts, the quick quips (the thing I'll remember most is her wit...Norma always cracked me up!). Stay strong, cousins...Norma was loved by our family and obviously so many others. We'll toast her soon...XOXO

From Jay Alexander

Unafraid to speak her mind
Strong and caring and she was kind
Sharp and salty quick of wit
If you had it coming she let it slip
Norma Jean you will be missed
You made the world a better place
Your absence here will leave a gap
But thank you Norma for leaving a map
Directions of honesty we all should follow
How to laugh and how to live
How to cry and how to give
I miss you Norma but I know
By knowing you, you helped me grow!!!

From Kathi Purdy

Norma was one of a kind. Always said what she thought, absoutely no nonsense. And funny as hell. She was one of my very favorite cousins growing up. Always ready for a laugh. Remembering chasing firetrucks with her when Carol & Nellie were in Alaska. We are all richer for having known her. And we will all be a little poorer for having lost her. God speed Norma. Give em hell up there!!!

Shocked and saddened at the news of Norma Jean passing. I had the pleasure of working with her for a number of years at the Harbor Cafe, and she was well known for her quick wit and delicious meals. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her daughters and also to George and Carol. Great times with a great lady!!!!

From Jennifer Chapman

My fondest memories of Norma Jean are from the days of our youth and innocence...playing motorcycle gangs in the gully where the freeway runs now; overnights with flashlights under the covers telling spooky stories; trying to win the trophy in junior league bowling. I don't know you girls, but knowing your mom I'm sure you are strong and beautiful. Hi, Georgie. A heart full of pain and love for you all. Jenn
