Ray C. Wallace passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on Fathers Day, June 19th, in Bellingham, Washington. He was 88.

He was born in Stockton, California on December 31, 1927 to Hazel E. Ralston and William R. Wallace. He was the beloved husband of Mauryne and they were together for 64 years. Ray and Mauryne met in Santa Cruz when he came home from World War II, later met again in in Los Angeles, and were eventually married in Carson City, Nevada on May 20th, 1954.

Ray attended elementary and junior high school in Oakland, CA, and high school in Watsonville, CA where he enlisted in the Navy in World War II. He served in the Pacific Campaigns-Australia Area; Tulagi, Emeriau, Tarawa, Eniwetok, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, where his unit was preparing to go into the sea of Japan when the war was declared over. Ray took a picture of MacArthur and the Japanese signing the peace treaty aboard ship - Hallelujah!

Ray was involved in many entrepreneurial activities; appliance sales, repair, and installation, and also a salesman for high-end automobiles. Before retiring he became a certified golf club maker for Golf Smith. He loved to watch and play golf. He enjoyed sports car racing, was an avid sports care enthusiast, and owned several sports cars over the years. He wrote a column called “Rayviews” and took film for Motor Classics of Los Angeles. He met most of the world class drivers of the time at the races in Southern California.

Ray was very accomplished on the piano, playing popular tunes and the jazz he loved. Mauryne thinks he got this talent from his mother who played the piano and organ beautifully. His father was also musical and played the banjo. Ray was involved with various clubs over the years and he was particularly fond of service clubs for children with special needs. He and Mauryne had a marvelous time together; many parties, dinners, dancing, and other activities kept them very busy along with a growing son and his activities.

He is survived by his wife Mauryne, son Robert L. Wallace of San Bernadino, CA, with granddaughter Tristan and grandson Justin. Ray was not only a grandfather and great-grandfather he was a great-great-grandfather. He is also survived by his brother Robert D. Wallace and wife Joyce of Redding, CA. and their extended families, and brother-in-law John A. Charvet and wife Bonnie of Capistrano Beach, CA, and their extended families.

Mauryne writes...“My darling Ray, I know you’ll fly higher then an Eagle-The Angels are waiting for you to carry you to God-we all love you and will miss you forever”

From Rick Casaurang

I really cherish the times spent with you and Mo in Redway. You taught me how to repair appliances, and to not have a beer before noon! I feel bad I didn't get to see you, but I know we will meet again soon. You and Mo will always hold a special place in my heart. God Bless
