Nancy Ortiz

Service Information

A Celebration of life will be held at Christ Evangelical Church in Bellingham, WA on January 27th at 1:30.

Nancy Sue Ortiz passed away at home January 21, 2012. Nancy was born on July 17, 1946 in Nampa Idaho. Nancy married her first husband Gary Eveland, during that marriage she had her first two children, Anne and Terri. She later met her second husband of 43 years Zack Ortiz Sr. having four more children Gina, Jennifer, Zack Jr. and Amy. Our mom was very devoted to us. She always had her door open to any relative or friend in need of a place to stay. She never turned anyone away from her door. She kept her cabinets and fridge filled with food to feed any hungry person that came to her home. She always made large meals to ensure having lots of leftovers for family and friends. Before retiring Zack Sr. made sure to bring extra leftovers in his lunch because his coworkers loved her cooking.

Mom spent 27 years caring for her youngest daughter Amy, handicapped since birth, until Amy passed away six years ago. Mom's heartbreak continued with the passing of her second oldest daughter, Terri just three years ago.

We take comfort in knowing that she is in heaven at peace, no longer in pain, and with her two daughters. She is loved and missed dearly by her husband Zack Sr., her children Anne and Mary Kay Lambert, Gina and Lance Heslep, Jennifer Shuffelen, Zack Jr. and Sarah Ortiz. She was adored by her grandkids Miranda and Chase Heslep, Mariah & Jeremiah Shuffelen, Aaron, Mary D., Kathy, and Cate Lambert, Braxtyn, Emmersyn, and Annistyn Oritz, Alex and Jacob Nigg. Nancy will also be deeply missed by her sister Sue Payton.

Aunt Nancy,When we spoke on the phone, when mom died you had the same sweet gentle tone that I remember as a kid..It was like the years had not went by so fast and we never saw each other..May Gods presence wrap around your family and help them in this time of sorrow.

To all of Nancy's family. Nancy always took the time to listen to me and made me feel better every time I saw her.

A hui hou kakou dear Nancy. Many years have passed since our first meeting, but I remember the sweet young woman that you were and how you worked so hard to be mom and dad to your girls while their father Gary was on assignment. Your daughters Tina (Anne) and Terri were precious to Linda and me and I pray still for Anne every day. God bless your journey into His Heavenly Home.
