Service Information

The family will celebrate Lindsay's life on Saturday April 21, 2012, between 2 pm and 4 pm, at the family home, 2119 Lummi Shore Rd Bellingham 98226.

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, Lindsay Elizabeth Erickson chose to leave this life. Lindsay was born on October 31, 1976, to Lori A. Erickson & Stanley W. Erickson. She was an only child for 7 years when her sister, Jillian, was born and 10 years older than her brother, Timothy. Lindsay is also survived by her maternal Grandfather & Grandmother, Don & Margaret Lind, her paternal Nana, Joyce Pfeiffer, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In her late teens she began working with her father on the Miss Lindsay, commercial fishing in Prince William Sound out of Valdez, Alaska. Although she quit before the end of the season, she was the only one willing to help her dad bring back the Miss Lindsay from the Aleutian chain. It was during that time she and her father shared some very special moments. Her loyalty to her family and friends was genuine & true.

Lindsay grew up with creativity around her. She worked with her Grandmother, Margaret Lind helping cutting and creating windsocks and spent many hours with her Nana knitting and crafting. Her Grandpa Warner taught her to roller skate and they spent hours together as she skated down Iron St. with her hair blowing in the wind. Recently Lindsay started skating again with her Aunt Sharon and two cousins. She loved to skate!

In the fall of 1997 the Erickson Family lost Stan in a commercial fishing accident in Bellingham Bay. After the loss of her father she went back to school. Lindsay first attended Whatcom Community College to receive her GED and work on her AA. While attending WWC her passion for art became the forefront of her mind.

Local artist, Rebecca Meloy, worked with Lindsay to compile the portfolio that would gain her entrance to Cornish College of the Fine Arts in Seattle. While attending college, Lindsay received numerous merit awards and scholarships for her unique art. She received a Bachelors of Fine Art from Cornish in 2004, and will be remembered for her block prints, sculptures and videography.

Lindsay returned to Bellingham and began her business on eBay where she bought/sold silver jewelry becoming a top seller. Her goal was to attend Cal Arts and become a director.

Sadly, Lindsay took her own life on March 31, 2012. She will be missed by many friends & family members. Those who knew Lindsay will always remember her artistic ability, loyalty & her love for animals. She was a beautiful girl who will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

The family will celebrate Lindsay's life on Saturday April 21, 2012, between 2 pm and 4 pm, at the family home, 2119 Lummi Shore Rd Bellingham 98226.

From Jill

Remembrance
Remembrance is a golden chain
Death tries to break,
but all in vain.
To have, to love, and then to part
Is the greatest sorrow of one’s heart.
The years may wipe out many things
But some they wipe out never.
Like memories of those happy times
When we were all together.
~ Author Unknown

There are many things you taught me,
Many memories we have
The memories will never be forgotten
You will be missed
In times of sorrow
The memories will help.
Your smile and laugh will not be forgotten
Your sisterly love and advice will be remembered and never forgotten
Lindsay I love you! A smile is brought upon my face when I know you are now with Dad.
Love Always and Forever,
Your Sister Jill

From Melissa Oostra

Lori, Jill, Timmy, I am so deeply sorry. I have so many memories of Lindsay I don't even know where to begin. She was at one time in my life my closest and dearest friend. She was family and a sister to me for many years, we went through a lot together, from making windsocks at Margaret's for what felt like hours on end, to all the fun times at the "trailer in a house". I have been going through old photos and I have found SO many pictures of her, and in every picture she is smiling and I can almost hear her laughing,, she had the greatest laugh!!!! It was contagious! We hadn't spent a lot of time together the past few years, our lives went in different directions, but every time I would see her we would hug and it was like no time had past. She will be truly missed. 'What the caterpillar perceives is the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning'

From Hilary Hager

Lindsay was my first friend at Alderwood Elementary when my family moved out to the county. She got me riding horses at the Moreau Equestrian farm across the street from her house. I can still smell the stench of our cowgirl boots! We rode the school bus home together everday - I was the second to last stop, and Lindsay's house was the last. She shocked me when she slipped the headphones on me and let me hear Guns N Roses for the very first time, and shocked me even more with her beautiful soul. Everyone has commented on that laughter of hers - I CAN STILL HEAR IT, AND WILL NEVER FORGET IT! LINDSAY, I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. I loved you.

From Tammi Starry Gauf

I will remember you Always my Friend,
LIndsay was a beautiful person inside and out. I admired her in so many ways, she was so creative and overflowing with artistic abilities. She had a gift of taking nothing and turning it into something great. Enthusiasm that was contagious, when she was excited about something.
Lindsay and I have been friends for most of my life, since the second grade at Alderwood Elementary School, Mrs. Battens class. I came in the middle of the year, Mrs. Batten introduced me to the class and pronounced my name incorrectly. Lindsay often reminded of that 1st day, by still calling me by that name.
I have dozens of memories with LIndsay. It's funny that Hilary mentioned Guns N Roses, because that stuck out for me too, on our way home on the bus listened to her walk-man, about 5th grade or so. From than on she kept introducing more great music to me.
We had some great road trips ( that girl loved to drive and Loved her cars), we shared a couple of vacations and also just some plain ol' good times that will never be forgotten.
I love you Linze, you will never be forgotten. I will miss you always, but I do hope that you have found your peace. Tam

I remember times feeling so excited with Lindsay and amazed by her when she laughed. She made it feel like anything was possible. Along with being one of the best artists, Lindsay was the best print studio tech Cornish ever had. I never noticed Lindsay do anything halfhearted, every act, every emotion was like a force of nature. Lindsay's art is awesome, she could take an idea and turn it around and make something entirely new, something thought-provoking and beautiful. Her craftsmanship was always amazing. Her art and her strong work ethic drew me to her but I found myself loving her when I started hearing her laugh. We made plans, Lindsay was an idea machine and planning was fun. I missed her so much and always knew I was dumb for not trying harder to find her after we lost touch. I missed her so much but I always thought I'd see her again.
She was beautiful, talented, open-minded, fiercely compassionate, wise, hilarious. I was always struck by her immense love for her family, the way she spoke of her care for everyone and when I met Jill and Tim visiting Bellingham from Seattle, I could see their love for her. Our time together was short really but it was so full and I am full of memories of Lindsay that I will always cherish.
