A private celebration of life will be held in Bills honor, date and location to be determined.

Byron William “Bill” Brown III passed away at his home in Bellingham, WA on July 12th, 2017. Diagnosed and suffering from terminal brain cancer, Bill chose to die on his terms with the help of palliative care and End of Life Washington. Bill worked as a nurse for PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Impatient Center for many years. During his retirement Bill enjoyed donating his time to the Sardis Raptor Center and the Ferndale Food Bank. In addition to Bill’s nursing career he was an avid farmer and rancher. Known to many as “Farmer Brown” he welcomed everyone with a smile, enjoyed sharing his harvest and growing pumpkins for his friends’ kids, giving tours to impromptu visitors, and show-n-tell of ‘new farm arrivals.’ He was wise, generous and thoughtful with a fantastic sense of humor and was a wonderful brother and friend. Proceeding Bill in death was his wife Angela Klontz Brown, his brother Alan, and father Byron William Brown Jr. Survivors include his mother Jan Brown, brothers Eric and Mark, and sisters Madeleine and Lisa. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the following charities: PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, Whatcom Hospice Foundation, and Doctors Without Borders.

I knew how much you loved Angela. I saw your sadness after she was gone. My heart was heavy when you talked to us about your tumor and knowing we would soon lose you too. But I still see your smiling  face and the anticipation in your eyes when you said that you were going to meet up with Angela. That's where you should be, so I'm so happy for you. I'm very comforted that you two are together again. I miss her and all of her energy. I'll miss you and your sense of humor. You were a great guy! You have my everlasting respect for the way you cared for Angela and for the courageous way you met death. I'll never forget either of you. Here's hoping we meet up again!

From Jerret Anderson

Didn't know Bill as well as others, but he was always super nice and great to talk to when I spent time around him with mutual friends. Great sense of humor and I know his friends and family will miss him dearly.
