Lorraine Gail Starr

Lorraine Gail Starr, more commonly known as Bid to those close to her, passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2020 at Whatcom Hospice House. She was born to Dave and Marion Johnson on November 22nd, 1954 in Seattle, WA. April 7th was the perfect “rag top day” the skies were perfectly clear and blue, and the weather was warm. Her favorite kind of day.

She is survived by her daughter, Erika Starr, son Kyle Starr, his wife Shannon, their two children Jackson and Jordyn, a German exchange student she loved like a son, Felix Stein, along with so many wonderful friends that she considered the family she chose.

Bid’s goal in life was to have fun and she always encouraged others to do the same. Whether it was traveling, getting together with friends and family or even going to work at Grand Central Collision. She had the most contagious laugh, quick wit and fun sense of humor that made everyone want to be included in what she was doing. One of her best-known sayings was “Come on, it’ll be fun!” And she encouraged many others to join along in her journeys of fun. She traveled to many different places over the years including Europe, Dubai, China, Costa Rica with a lot of trips to Mexico mixed in. She was the friend that was always ready to pack her bags and head to the airport.

Bid was a ray of light in the lives of many. Her positive outlook and love of life helped and encouraged many people that came across her path. She had so much love to give and gave it to so many. Her “family” was constantly growing and with each person she could be there for, she became more vibrant.

One of her best moments was becoming a Grandma. She thought about her grandkids constantly. Every time she visited, she brought gifts, a prepared dinner and some sort of a dessert, usually cookies. Her cookies became famous over the years, her own kids used to sell them for profit in their middle/high school years.

Bid is already missed by so many. She left a void that is irreplaceable in the hearts of many, yet we know she would want us to continue on, having fun and enjoying life. Her infectious laugh and amazing smile will forever be in our hearts.

Her favorite charity that she supported was Pushing Boundaries. They were a tremendous help to one of her closest cousins, Melanie Christianson, through difficult times and every year she helped and contributed to Melanie’s memorial charity event. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pushing Boundaries, 4162 148th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052.

So sad that you had to go, and much too soon.  You will be missed by many who are left behind trying to make sense of why this happened. I trust that you will find Char to laugh, to love, and have fun together.

I enjoyed playing womens soccer with you for over 20 years. We could always depend on you to show up at half time. At the soccer parties you were always the life of the party. Thank you Bid for all the memories. Going to miss you!
