Anthony Cubellis

Service Information

A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden on October 21st, 11AM.

Tony was born in the steel town of New Castle, PA where he said the winter snow was always black. He really disliked shoveling snow!

He had a successful career in insurance for 43 years where he and Pat worked together for 37 of those years. He was involved with many organizations, but was most proud of being one of the first people in Whatcom county to teach CPR at the Bellingham Technical School. He was very active in his faith and loved God with all of his heart.

Tony liked to putter around in his shop, movies, fish when he could, and to spend every birthday in Mexico along with his and Pat's wonderful friends.

He is survived by his wife Pat, son Ron (Lesley Norman) and daughter Amy. He was grandfather to Jason, Jenny, and Lillianne and great-grandfather to Braxton and Oliver.

A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden on October 21st, 11AM.

Memorials may be given to the Bellingham Food bank at: http://bellinghamfoodbank.org/get_involved/donate or by mail to: 1824 Ellis Street, Bellingham, WA 98225.

Memories

From Scott Foster

Thursday I lost a father figure, a mentor, and a friend when Tony passed away. I sit here with a heavy heart thinking of so many things I learned from him. He was always there for me, taught me to believe in myself. He taught me how to work on cars, paint, basic wood working, pinochle and so much more. I firmly believe I became an Electrician because of Tony, he taught me so much about AC and DC power so many years ago and we had a blast soldering circuits. Thank you for everything, you will always be with me in mind and spirit. Rest in Peace Tony

Pat, Ron & Amy,

I am so sorry about your loss. I will forever be indebted to Tony for being my racquetball partner all those years, even though he was 2 to 3 times the player I was.

From Mike Munz

Tony was a proud Enlisted Man in the U.S. Navy, Patrol Squadron Two. He was known to be a hard worker, supporting that "sense of purpose" in the Squadron that all Navy Men respond to, and a respected Aviation Electronics Technician. Tony is a Hero in my book, because Every Day he bravely stepped up to the Line, and offered to serve and die if necessary for his Country. He will leave an empty place in my life, but not in my heart.

I will miss Tony, I grew up across the street from Tony, Pat, Ron and Amy, Like Scott Foster , Tony was a mentor to me also teaching me the fine art of mowing a lawn and preparing a yard for Party, to how importat it is to have a Godfather (friend) like him. He was a good man ALWAYS there for me and my family no matter what! I will miss the man that showed me a hug means more than a handshake any day!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Tony was always a dear friend to me and my family since the first day we met 20 some years ago. I'll never forget the times at the 4th of July parties and especially when he was speechless at his big (very late) surprise birthday party. Rest in peace my friend.

Tony and my wife Patti and I attended elementary thru Jr high school at St Mary's in New Castle. There are many memories from there. But Tony and I were /are Buddies in that we did many things together growing up in those days, up to and including our joining the Navy together and the recruiting testing and boot camp and even our Navy Electronics " A " School together at Great Lakes, Ill in '62.
We went our separate ways from there, but were able to get together for a few NE CA HIGH reunions through the years.
I miss him and the ability to touch base with him until we can be together , down the road , where it really counts......Oh Yeah ....We were altar boys together too !!

May GOD Bless and keep you and yours always in all ways !!!

From JOHN COVER SR.

Sue and I send our sincere love and prayers to your family. I still remember when you visited us in Pittsburgh some years ago. Tony and I worked for the same Insurance Company for the same number of years. And of course it all started at St. Mary's in New Castle and Ne-Ca-Hi. He was one of my best friends then and we tried to stay in touch over the years. I will miss his laughter and memories of long ago. God bless you and care for you in this time of sorrow.
