Nancy Jane Parker

Nancy Parker of Bellingham, WA passed away on June 2, 2023 at Hospice House following a brief hospitalization at the age of 84. Nancy was born to Harry and Marge Parker in NY. She graduated from high school in NY in 1956 and from Cornell University in 1962 with a degree in biology. Nancy is survived by her brother Jack Parker (Rosemary) of NY, her sister Peggy Arcaro (Tony) of PA, her sister Susan Bowman of NC, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Marge Parker and husband, James Duncan. Nancy worked as a researcher at the Pacific Biological Station in Nanaimo, BC, Canada, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, and at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, HI. She also had jobs as a taxi driver and as a forensics tech for the Honolulu Police Department. Following a move to the family home in NY and the unexpected death of her husband, Nancy moved to and settled in Bellingham for the long haul. She joined Toastmasters and enjoyed the friendships cultivated by her long term participation in the organization. She had life long loves of nature, learning and the written word. She had a gift of sharing her knowledge with those around her. She also had a creative gift she shared with others. Contributions may be made to support the local Light House Mission or Salvation Army or national organizations of the National Wildlife Federation/Foundation, Christian Jews, or Paralyzed Veterans. Rest in peace, Nancy.
