Sallie Stewart

Service Information

A Celebration of Life will be held at Inspire Church-North Cascade in Marblemount WA on July 1st at 11AM. All are welcome.

Monday May 15th at age 71, Sallie Stewart, of Concrete WA, said “goodbye” to this world, achieving her ultimate goal of seeing her Savior face-to-face. Thunder and Lightning heralded her departure. We, her beloved, were not expecting to lose her so soon but she succumbed to infection complications after a 7 week hospital stay.

Sally was born in Seattle in 1951 to Edwin (Ed) and Vernita (Vea) at the U.S. Army hospital at Fort Lawton. Because her father was a career navy man, they moved many times, bouncing between both coasts. Sallie was in Virginia Beach VA in her high school years then Ed retired and they settled in Skagit County and Sallie went to college both at Mount Vernon Junior College (now SVC) and WWU in Bellingham where she majored in Early Childhood Development. It was while in college, due to the prayers of her dorm mates, Sallie decided to dedicate her heart 100% to Jesus. Post college, she worked at home for pregnant teens and also at Hillcrest Kids, a church sponsored daycare.

After a whirlwind romance, Sallie married Gary Stewart on April 15th 1978, instantly becoming mother to his 3 yr old daughter Cari. She set up home with him in Marblemount, WA. They were blessed with another 4 sons and 5 daughters. She served God by homeschooling her children, helping the family business and staying involved in the local church.

Gary and Sallie separated in 2004 and Sallie eventually moved to Concrete WA with some of her children. Her heart never left Marblemount, though, and up to the present time she has been serving the worship team at Inspire Church North Cascade. Her biggest joy recently was the birth of her first grandson in November, William, and she spent as much time with him as she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Vea, her oldest son Christopher Robin and her babies that did not make it to birth.

She leaves behind: -her children; Cari and Rob, Christine, Corban, Cindy (Lucinda), Colette and Jason, Collin, Colby, Cathaleen and Will, and Cassandra. - Her grandchildren; Rebecca, Josie and William. - Her siblings Rick, Mike and Terri with spouses and children.

Sallie was known for her unswerving faith in God, love for Jesus, and her stubborn ability to only see the best in others. We would do well to continue that legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Inspire Church- North Cascade at 11 AM on July 1st. If anyone wants to contribute to the expenses of the family, a GoFundMe has been set up. https://gofund.me/55ef4ae8

Memories

From Faye Nichols

first of all I am sorry for the loss to the family. Sallie was a dedicated member of our church, North Cascade Community Church. She served faithfully the entire 16 years we pastored that starting in 1999.  She never complained about practicing music on a Saturday night in the cold church.  She was dedicated to her calling as a worship team leader.  My husband, Pastor Dave, passed away three months ago, and I just imagine he and sallie fellowshipping again around the throne of God.  So glad that Sallie was part of our lives, as we are richer for having known her.  God bless those who remain. And may we someday all worship around that throne.
