Brian DePoppe

Service Information

There will be a memorial/celebration of his life announced later.

On July 4th 2026 Brian DePoppe, a patriotic veteran who loved his Country went to Heaven to be with the Lord who he loved so much. We will miss him, but he is celebrating freedom, joy and amazing love.

Brian was born July 12, 1953 in Brainerd Minnesota to his Mom Elizabeth (Betty) Cook (deceased) and Meryl DePoppe (deceased). He grew up a farm boy working alongside his Grandfather (deceased) and two brothers Wally DePoppe (Linda), Larry DePoppe (Julie) and their sister Martha DePoppe. He made many lifelong friends by going to tractor shows at Berthusen Park or Rolag or one of the many other shows back in Minnesota or collecting or hauling tractors or parts.

After graduating from high school in 1972 Brian enlisted in the Army. He made a lot of friends dirt bike riding while at Fort Lewis. He married Beverly Gunion (now Stallman) in 1974. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa after leaving the army in 1976. There he attended Northwest Iowa Technical College studying the masonry business and made more friends. Then in 1978 they moved to Lynden WA and raised two children Desirae Allen (Cody) and Zachariah DePoppe (Lydia). His children supplied him with many wonderful grandchildren who he cherished.

Brian began his masonry business which he ran for over 30 years and you can still see his work throughout the area. He, over the years, became known to be very artistic both in his work, his antique vehicles and his metal art sculptures.

He loved to spend his time riding dirt bikes, hiking, camping DePoppe style and spending time with friends including being a friend to boys who didn’t have a father figure or whose Dad’s were to busy or not inclined to enjoy the outdoors. Some of these boys now pass on the love of outdoors to another generation.

He was one of the original founders of Christ the King and is a great example of living the talk and having no hesitation to share his faith in His God. His response to this would be “let God have all the Glory”.

About 14 years ago God blessed both him and Debi Haug by bringing them together in a very special marriage full of love for each other and for God. Many times they hosted for their friends country/bluegrass gospel music at their home and enjoyed sharing God, music and their unique home he had done so many creative things with.

You may notice a common theme here. Brian was all about caring and sharing with friends. He had many friends across the country and even was friends with total strangers. He liked to always include “thank you for being my friend” in his phone calls and did the exceptional by keeping these connections. This is just part of what made up this amazing man with the huge bigger than life personality.

“To God Be The Glory”.
