Gerald Dean (Jerry) Levien

Jerry was born March 30th, 1952 in New Westminster, BC to Alma Johnson.  That was a beautiful day.

Jerry and Amy were married February 20th, 1982.  They did split up for a year, but because they were meant to be, they reunited and married again on September 5th, 2005, in a double wedding with Gary and Rose Anker.

Jerry joined the Marines July 23rd, 1971.  He completed Field Artillery School with 100% academic average, which earned him his promotion to Lance Corporal and a Certification of Commendation from the Commanding General of the base.  His achievement made him the top man of his whole class of over 110 Marines.

After Jerry’s honorable discharge from the Marines, he wore many hats.  He worked at Intalco for a few years.  He enjoyed bartending and being a bouncer at Shanty Town in Blaine with his friend Greg Ormiston. He especially enjoyed the confrontations and throwing customers out of the bar.  The majority of them were Canadians on Sundays during hockey games, as the bars in Canada were closed on Sundays.

In 1983, Jerry went to Deep Sea Diving School in Seattle, where he met his new partner-in-crime John Jeffries.  They pulled many pranks together.  His favorite was when they changed the wiring on a guy’s brakes so the horn would sound every time he hit them!

Jerry was also a commercial fisherman in southeast Alaska for a few years with many friends.  One in particular, Dan Hatton, was another fellow prankster.  They had too many to tell!

In 1996, Jerry tried his hand at construction.  His first house was his own, and it is still standing.  As a General Contractor, he built about 50 houses, mainly in Peaceful Valley and Paradise.

Jerry loved his Harleys; riding with the wind in his face and bugs in his teeth.  That was when he was his happiest. The Holy Smoke a Tavern was Jerry’s office (LOL).  While hanging out with his friends there, they decided to put a motorcycle run together.  They called it “The FORC Run” (Fraternal Order of Razor Clams).  The runs always ended at the Smoke, where they built a camping area with a band stage out behind the Holy Smoke. He earned himself the nickname “Father of Rain Clouds”, because it always rained during any of the parties that were planned.  It was always blamed on Jerry.

Jerry loved to cook (Amy - “Thank goodness!”).  BBQ, oysters, ribs and smoking meats.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he always put meat in the freezer.  The year of his 50th birthday he killed a bear and buck on the same day.  That was a busy day!

Halloween was Jerry’s favorite holiday.  Because it was for everyone - adults and children.  He put on a big display!  He didn’t do it alone - his friends Lyle, Mike Horat, Mike Parker, and his neighbor Wade were his helpers.  Anyone else that showed up was put to work. This was the first year there were no decorations as Jerry was in the hospital.  All the adults and children that usually come by knew something was wrong.

Jerry is survived by his wife Amy; his seven children: Chrissy Main, Shawn Main, Trinda Keeney, Dawn Keeter, Misty Levien Thompson, Tiffianie Levien, and Grant Hardy;  many grandchildren, and a few great-grandchildren; his cousins Wade, Emeric (Joyce) and daughter Breen: Lee (Cheryl) and daughters Alyssa and Flynn.

He is preceded by his parents Chuck and Alma Levien, numerous aunts and uncles and friends.
