Jim Logghe, 80, went home to heaven surrounded by family and friends on the evening of October 17th after a short illness. Jim was born in Reno, Nevada on April 1, 1945, and we had the joy of celebrating his 80th birthday with him earlier this year. He graduated from Ridgefield High School, home of the Spudders and had a Bachelor’s Degree from
Western Washington University. Jim also was a member of the Army and the National Reserves.
Jim spent years working with loans and reverse mortgages, earning a reputation of putting the needs of his clients above his own bottom line. More importantly, he was the very embodiment of a family man, helping to raise a blended family of five sons and one daughter. Jim could always be seen in the crowd at his kids' events, be they wrestling matches, football games, baseball games, or middle school jukebox musicals but his joy was to attend skating meets to watch his wife compete and coach. He was a super fan for his grandson’s baseball games and later when he had trouble walking around, he would watch baseball games via apps on his iPad. He drove the family station wagon for road trips to lake Chelan and the Oregon coast, blasting The Beach Boys and Credence Clearwater along the way. He loved movies and tv (Hallmark Channel and Love Boat were his favorite) and the LA Dodgers. He was a fierce board game competitor, and he led the saying of grace at every holiday meal (Bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies, AMEN!). Jim could be counted on in any situation, a constant voice of reason and wealth of practical knowledge and experience. Not content to merely be an expert on the serious side of life, he also enjoyed being a class clown and his Harry Caray impersonations were spot on. His laugh was infectious, especially when something really hit his funny bone and he’d go into a cry-laughing fit.
Jim was a bright presence in this world, and he’ll be fondly remembered and dearly missed by Sue, Traci, Steve, Kyle, Tim, David, and the rest of his extended family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Julius Logghe and Leota Ackenhausen and his son Craig Logghe. He is survived by his loving family: Sue Logghe, Traci Parcher (Mike), Steve Duppenthaler (Kristin), Kyle Logghe (Shannon), Tim Myers and Dave Logghe. He was also very proud of his amazing grandchildren: Jade, Tyler, Jacob, Sonny, Kaia, Gavin, Aislynn, Madison, Marlowe and Mac.
