Wayne Lee Lankhaar

Service Information

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Wayne Lee Lankhaar was born on March 7, 1961 to Phyllis (Bouma) Lankhaar and Foster Lankhaar in Abbotsford, Canada. He grew up in Sumas, Washington and spent his life surrounded by the beauty of Whatcom County.

Wayne departed from our physical realm peacefully on January 14, 2025, while listening to “Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd.”

Wayne was the father of Melanie Lankhaar-Jernberg (Ben Jernberg) and Matthew Lankhaar. He is also survived by his siblings: Jim (Cheryl), Sharlene Van Winkle (Ken), Dale (Sherilyn), Nancy Grzymko (Rich), Sharon Sletvik (Kevin), and Darlene. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he adored immensely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest sister, Janice.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of music, his gentle smile, his twinkling bright blue eyes, his deep appreciation for the simple beauty of life in Whatcom County, and the warmth he shared with those around him. May his soul rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

The family wanted to thank the wonderful staff at Whatcom Hospice House for their gentle care and dedication to providing comfort and support.

Melanie, and family- what a privilege to see some of the pictures of your dad at various points in his life, and to learn a bit more about him. May you be comforted each day by family and friends who hold you close. Aunt Susan
