Anne Mikkelsen
Anne Mikkelsen, 76, of Bellingham, Washington died Sunday, November 29th, 2020 peacefully at her home, after a short battle with cancer.
Anne had a passion for life and learning and an openness to opportunities. Anne was born in New York on August 31st, 1944, raised in Anoka and became established in Deephaven, Minnesota; Northfield, Minnesota and Bellingham, Washington. She took great pride in being a mother. Cooking was her first professional and entrepreneurial endeavor. She learned the art of french cooking in France with Simone Beck and assistant Julia Child. She owned and operated restaurants at the Minnetonka Art Center and Walker Art Center, owned a catering business, hosted a cooking show and ran the Log House Bed and Breakfast in Northfield. She was a little league baseball coach, Guardian Ad-Litem, developer of prevention and intervention programs for high-risk youth, Founder and Director of the Northfield Union of Youth and The Key and creator of the Cutters Grove Development signage. Anne graduated from Western Washington University in 2006 with a degree in Sociology, Law and Creative Writing and went on to publish numerous books. She was a trained Hospice volunteer and an incredible caregiver. Anne was Reiki Certified, Jukai accomplished, Mediation trained, and a 2019 graduate of Upaya Institute and Zen Center becoming a Buddhist Chaplain. Anne was a world traveler developing friendships in Japan, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Spain, France, Italy, and Mexico to name a few. A journey well-orchestrated; a job well done!
Anne is survived by her children Sean (Janine) Larson of Edina, Minnesota, Geoffrey (Tanya) Larson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Andy (Juliana) Larson of Bellingham, Washington and Sarah (Keith) Lendt of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; Step-Children Randy (Tatiana) Mikkelsen of Plaistow, New Hampshire; Greta Mikkelsen of Jacksonville, Oregon; and John “Buzz” (Valerie) Mikkelsen of Salinas, California; her ex-husband and friend Gerald (Barb) Larson of The Villages, Florida; 16 grandchildren: Jeremy, Amanda, Sarah, Skye, Chelsea, Cutter, Vibeka, Annika, Maija, CharlaAnne, Teddy, Aidan, Carmen, Isaac, Rohan and Xeryena; five great grandchildren: Adrian, Alden, Ava, Emory, Wheatley; siblings Acey Stewart of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Milo Cutter of St. Paul, Minnesota, Liza (Perry) Cutter of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marc (Cindy) Cutter of Luck, Wisconsin, Andy (Deb) Cutter of Healdsburg, California; and Sarah (Mark) Gustafson of Champlin, Minnesota; many loved nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Helen and Leeds Darrah Cutter of Anoka, Minnesota; brother Leeds Cutter also of Anoka; husband Mike Mikkelsen; and grandson Hunter Mikkelsen. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2021.
