Service Information

A Celebration of Antha Mae Jordan Pace's Life will be held at the Bellingham Yacht Club on Monday, June 12, 2017 from five until eight o'clock in the evening.

Antha Mae (Toni) Jordan Pace passed away on May 26, 2017 at the age of eighty-seven in Bellingham, Wash. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Annie Belle Bowman and Edd Jarvis Jordan on February 28, 1930. She was the fraternal twin sister of Dorothy Gray Jordan Rich, deceased June 2015. The twins were the youngest girls of their parents' eleven surviving children. She was married to Herman Allen Pace of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was widowed when her husband passed away on May 10, 1981. She never remarried. Toni was proud to be a military serviceman's wife. While accompanying her husband on Stateside tours of duty, she has lived in Tucson, Calif.; Camp Pendleton, Calif.; Honolulu, Hawaii (when it was a territory); and Camp Lejeune, NC while raising two children on and off military base housing. She has traveled by old propeller planes, trains, naval transport ships, and has (herself) driven cross-country several times with her children in tow as a dedicated military spouse and mother. Toni was known to be someone who the other servicemen's wives could turn to in difficult times along with her friendship and camaraderie in adjusting to military base-life. Toni resided in a private apartment at Orchard Park Assisted Living for more than nine years where she was known for her charming Southern accent, friendly ways, and for winning most of the bingo games. Her son, Anthony Allen Pace, moved his family out to Bellingham from Oklahoma to help with her care in 2009. Antha Mae Pace is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Ann Pace Brown and her son-in-law Andrew Thomas Brown of Bellingham, Wash. She is also survived by her son Anthony Allen Pace and his three sons: Robert Allen, Richard Allen, Rayzul Allen, and his daughter: Tammy Ann Pace of High Point, NC and her two daughters: Megan Lake Pace Sewell of High Point, NC and Elizabeth Haley of Texas. Her last surviving sibling is her sister Minnie Jordan Shoffner. Antha Mae Pace was predeceased by her husband of thirty-three years, Herman Allen Pace and by her granddaughter Cynthia Ann Pace; and her siblings: Ruby Pardue, Raby Dowling Townsend, Clinton Jordan, James Jordan, Margie Flynn, Ellen Jordan, Dorothy Rich, Edward Jordan, and younger brother Ernest Jordan.

Memories

From James Jordan

Antha Mae was my Aunt  She was a companion in my youth and only 7 years older than me.  My father was her oldest brother.

Of course I was shocked to learn of her death and the death of my Aunt Ellen, but I want to send my condolences to her children and grandchildren.

I will try to get in contact with Minnie in Greensboro the only surviving aunt.

Saddened but many loving memories, Jim
