Beverly Curtis passed away August 3, 2020, after a six year battle with cancer. She was 87. She was born in St Paul, Minnesota, and spoke of a happy childhood in small towns in Minnesota and North Dakota. Her favorite was Douglas, Minnesota, where she attended a one room schoolhouse for three years.
After her father passed away, when Beverly was twelve years old, her family moved to Tacoma. She married David Curtis in 1951. They moved their family to Southern California in 1958.
Beverly was an avid gardener and loved to entertain. She was always humming, singing or whistling .She also loved to read and instilled a love of reading in her children and grandchildren.
The family took annual vacations to visit family in the Northwest or go camping in State Parks.
After raising their two children, she and David traveled extensively, often including their love of hiking, biking, and beaches. They were also involved in a Scandinavian folk dance group that they enjoyed. They did performances as far away as Finland!
Beverly's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember her for fun tea parties, board games, and her favorite game "5,000". She would always sit down and read with them any time they asked.
She was a generous and loving person, we will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband David and her sister Margaret Haugen. She is survived by her sister Cindy Ensley, her children Dan (Won) Curtis, Jane (Randy) Rush, four grandchildren and their families.
