She is survived by her mother, Muriel Edna Thompson; her husband of 49 years, Trevor Williams; her daughter Merlee and husband Roy Moffit of Spokane Washington, and the grandchild she always wanted, Dalton Grant Bailey, also of Spokane.

At Claire's request, no services are being held.

Thank you to the caregivers at Hospice of Whatcom County, for their unparalleled support and friendship, not only for Claire, but her family as well.

Dear Trevor and Merlee: You can't imagine the memories I've bee reliving over the past two weeks. Having such a very best friend over several decades and being there when she married you Trev. She was very choosy about the men in her life and when she choose you, I knew you were a keeper. You have been the light of her life, her best friend and very loyal companion. The only other man deep in her heart was her dad and we all know how special he was.
I spent a lot of time in your home when you were born Merlee....a twinkle in your dad's eye and a love song in your mom's heart. Over several years Claire and I went on different paths but even after a year or two of not talking, all it took was one phone call and it was like no time had passed.....the things that strong friendships are all about. I am honored to have had such a constant and loyal friend.....she was strength for me when times were tough in my life and I returned it when she called on me when she needed a shoulder. Trev used to call me Claire's psychiatrist. We shared good times, bad times, tears, laughter and it seemed that our hearts were interchangleable. Time for a rest for you Trev...you left your job to care for Claire and give her quality of life that she might not have otherwise had. She loved you more than you know.....I know that. Merlee....walk in the sunshine that she always wanted for you and your family. She loved you dearly and cherished her grandson Dalton. I have Claire sitting on my shoulder.....I can hear the laugh, the spitfire comments she was famous for and the love we shared in her last years.

From Karen and Ken …

Dear Trevor and family our thoughts are with you. We will miss Claire and her laughter but we know she is in a better place now. I enjoyed my visits with you both over the last year or so and will always remember them. I will always have the memory in my mind of when I babysat the kids and we decided to make Claire a birthday cake, hot pink and lopsided!! Oh well she loved it and we all had a good laugh. Take care and we will keep in touch. Karen and Ken
