Jacob "Jake" Faulkner
Jake will be remembered in a memorial service at Christ the King Church in Bellingham, WA on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11 am. A reception lunch will follow. All are welcome to attend.
Jake passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in Bellingham, Washington on July 23, 2017. He was born at home in Bellingham to Jack and Elaine Faulkner. His sisters are Geneva and Alana.
He loved life with his family, cousins and neighborhood friends. He was home-schooled until 8th grade, at which point he spent a year at St.Paul's Episcopal school. Jake then attended Ferndale High school where he made his presence known on the football field. He loved camping trips and traveling. He adored his grandparents on both sides of the family. As a child, Jake loved to build things...and blow things up. He grew up in the church with many friendships there.
He worked for numerous construction companies in Whatcom county and for the past few months was a journeyman electrician, which was his dream.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Elaine Faulkner, sisters Geneva (husband Dave), Alana, sponsored brother Rajesh Adhikary (India). Other surviving relatives include his “Beppe” Audrey Appel, grandparents Kenneth and Joan Faulkner of Newaygo, Michigan. His aunt's and uncles; Chris Faulkner and Rosemarie Moon, Scott and Robbin Faulkner, Dan and Kelly Faulkner - all of Michigan. Gerrit and Rena Knibbe, Gerald and Norma Appel, John and Ruth Appel, Rich and Ann Appel - all of Whatcom County. Cousins Carmen Faulkner and Ron, Caleb and Autumn Faulkner, Dirk, Jacob (Julia), Ben, Jenna and Mary Knibbe, Chance (Eric) Harksell, Tyler and Shelby Appel. Gerrit Appel, Marlies (Randy) Gill, Chris (Erika) Appel, Elizabeth (Michael) Hayes, Richard (Nicole) with baby Penny. He was preceded in death by his “Pake”, Jacob “Jack” Appel.

Jake, I will always remember your infectious smile and your easygoing nature. I'll never forget the time you and Kyle put my mirror up at my house but you guys put it up so high only people 6 ft or taller could see in it. Made us all laugh. Thank you for loving Kenzie and for saving her life. Be at peace with the angels. Love ya!

Life only gives you a handful of lifetime friends and despite the thousands of miles between us ,and the long silences, our friendship has remained strong. I only had the pleasure of meeting Jacob a few times but each time I adored him more than the last. He was bouyant and transparent and gave up his personality and his dreams so easily in our conversations. His enthusiasm for life was infectious. The hottest fires burn out quickly but make the biggest impressions. Jacob was a big fire, with lots of warmth to give. I love you all and look forward to seeing you in September. Words cannot express the hurt I feel for the hurt you must feel. Virtual hugs from Michigan are being transmitted daily.
If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more, we shall speak again together and you shall sing to me a deeper song. Khalil Gibran

Jack and Elaine,
There are no words, my heart grieves with you. Jacob must be extra special to God for Him to perform miracles in his name. I will be one of the many lifting you and your family up in prayer. I've only known you a short time but you're special, love you guys!
In the name of the one who has conquered death,
Nila

Oh Emily, thanks for reaching out, I will certainly let Alana know! I loved St.Pauls so much. Jacob had such a great year there in 8th grade with that trip to England! Thanks so much.

small Hearts in a Vast Universe.
how will we know
when our breath
turns to air?
when our song
becomes a melody from memory?
how do we maintain
our subtle pulse
when noise surrounds
our collapsing wings?
only this:
That Love endures,
and our Time will move,
moment upon moment,
and will never be lost. That River will
Flow and move toward
that Vast Horizon.
