Lynda Parcher

Lynda Parcher (Matty) was born October 15, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan. The family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1945, ultimately settling in Bellingham where Mom graduated from Bellingham High School in 1957. She earned an undergraduate degree from Western Washington College of Education in 1961 and later, balancing work and motherhood, earned a master’s degree in Education from Western. Lynda was an accomplished special education teacher in the Bellingham School District for over two decades ending her career at Fairhaven Middle School. Fierce in spirit and relishing her independence, our mom was a passionate advocate and leader for special needs children and was a staunch supporter of progressive causes. Mom built a home that reached beyond family to welcome friends and children throughout the years. She was an avid gardener and cherished time spent with family in her beautiful backyard right up until her passing. Mom was also an MVP Amazon customer.

She and her husband Joe celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary two days prior to her passing. Lynda is survived by Joe; her three sons and spouses Jeff (Cheryl), Mark and Mike (Traci); four grandchildren Luke, Haley (Brent), Tyler and Jacob and her beloved dog Cooper. She was predeceased by her parents John and Letha and brothers Keith, Ken and Gary. In lieu of flowers, donations to www.easterseals.com would honor Mom's legacy of championing special needs children.
