Randal E. Smith

~ Randal Edward (Randy) Smith passed away on September 29, 2012 at his home in Bellingham.

He was born March 2, 1945 in Spokane, WA. Randy was born to the late Corliss M. Smith, Sr. and Mae L. Smith (Bishop).

He is survived by his wife of 15 years Vicki Smith who he described as "the prettiest girl at the gas company." Also his brother and sister-in-law Corliss M. Smith, Jr. “Corky” and Cathy Smith(Pompeo), his sister “Ranger” Kristine R. Smith and brother-in-law Bill Eickhoff.

He was previously married to Linda Mary Smith (Anderson) for 14 Years with children Kelly Smith, Kendra Clark, and Kristopher(KC) Smith and grandchildren Jordyn Lallas and Emma Lallas.

Randy worked for the family company, Olivine Corporation, for seven years. He then worked for Cascade Natural Gas Company for 41 years. He retired from CNG five years ago. Randy was the master of the machine; with a backhoe by any name or brand it would do his every command. His greatest sense of accomplishment was to “put a gas line through the middle of someone’s yard so they never know it has been disturbed.”

Randy also had a passion for football. He was the starting quarterback for Olympia High School and played semi-pro football in Bellingham for the Belljets.

Randy's last “time out” has arrived. Randy was quiet and wanted “no fuss." At his request, no service will be held.

Memories

From Jerry and Linda Card

Randy was he first employee I met at CNG 35+years ago and we remained friends ever since. So many laughs to remember....no one better to work along side of....our grown children still remember the many trips to the jobsite to deliver icecream bars. Randy was the first to visit at the hospital when our oldest was born. Randy remained a true friend to the very end. Our deepest condolences to Mae and the rest of the family, Vicky our thoughtsand prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Jerry and Linda Card and family

My deepest sympathy to the Smith family in the loss of Randy. I didn't know Randy real well but always enjoyed visiting with him and Vicki at Corky Jr'.s annual birthday parties at the log house. Great memories. My thoughts are with all of you.

From Roger and Penn…

We remember the first time we met Randy and we both said he reminded us of the Marlboro Man and we called him that for quite some time. We will always remember Randy either sitting in his chair in the kitchen or sitting outside in the sunshine doing his crossword puzzles as he was the Crossword Puzzle King. He was a very big sports fan and when I would come up to visit my sister and Randy we would always discuss the mariners and our thought on how to improve the team. He and Rogr always discussed the Seahawks knowing Randy's love for football. Randy was a very quiet guy and a very careing and giving guy too. We will miss him very much and will think of him ofter

From Madison & Beck…

Deepest Sympathies Aunt Vicki

I remember watching uncle Randy sitting in the sun, or on the porch with Grandma Great Cannon. Reading or doing a crossword, playing with the dog or talking. He even took the three Beresford kids to the playground a few times. Even though your wedding was a decade and a half past, and that was the last time I was with either of you, I remember our times together fondly. Praying for you in this time of loss.

From Gary and Joy

I also remember Randy doing his crossword puzzles sitting on the porch enjoying the morning sun. Always enjoyed visiting with Randy, always calm, relaxed and gentle. A lot of memories of Randy and Vicki's porches, conversations, coffee and food with both Randy and Mother. Randy will be missed.
