Ray Southerly
Ray Southerly, age 64 of Sedro Woolley, passed away on Tuesday, September 18th in Mt.Vernon after an extended illness.
He was born November 10, 1947 in Spokane, Washington and graduated from John R Roger High School in Spokane. He married Cynthia Southerly in 1979. He had many titles throughout his life but none was more important than loving husband and father.
He enjoyed making cookies and candy during the holidays (all of which will be missed as much as he will be), ceramics and cake decorating. He enjoyed computer games, watching shows such as Survivor, Big Brother, Young and the Restless, and game shows such as The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Yahtzee , and Coca Cola Monopoly. He had an extensive collection of cookie jars that he acquired over the years. He knew how to crochet and occasionally made hats.
Ray was predeceased by his father Charles. He is survived by his wife Cynthia, his twin girls Racheal Zeiler and Rebecca Ring, and his son John Southerly; his grandchildren Russell Zeiler and Shelby Zeiler, his mother Sally Southerly, and siblings Richard Charles Southerly (wife Leanne), Ronald Wayne Southerly (wife Penny), Robert Southerly and Roger Southerly.
At his request no service will be held. Everyone that was important or meaningful in his life be it friend or family said their goodbyes to him already. His one other request in life was that he be interned in one of his favorite cookie jars. We as a family choose one of the many Coca Cola bears in his collection as his final resting place. He will remain with his family in his home in Sedro Woolley. For Richard and Ronald, Ray was always the little (younger) big brother- the gentler, kinder one of the rowdy bunch.
The family wishes to say "Thank you" for the ongoing support of friends and extended family in this time of great loss.
What we'd give if we could say Hello, Dad, in the same old way To hear your voice and see your smile To sit with you and chat a while Dad is gone but not forgotten And, as dawns another year In lonely hours of thinking Thoughts of him are always near. You are not forgotten, brother Nor ever will you be As long as life and memory lasts We will remember thee.

Ray was a nice man, I knew him for too short time when I was very young and he was my stepfather. Ray was the kindest man I have ever known. I was fortunate to renew contact with Ray in recent years, and appreciated his interest in my life while respecting my privacy. Racheal and Rebecca are my little sisters who I love; I don't know John well but I am glad to know him, being Ray's son is certainly special. I feel sad for their pain. I'm sure Ray is with good people.
